Watch Motley Crue take a trip down memory lane at the Roxy
Times of discover News: Motley Crue took a trip down memory lane this week with their "Hollywood Takeover" series of shows at Los Angeles' Sunset Strip clubs where they got their start more than 40 years ago.
The stunt will take the tough live rockers to the Troubadour on October 7, the Roxy on October 9 and the Whisky a Go Go on October 11. You can see photos of the Roxy act below.
From the start, Motley Crue knew how to make an entrance and captivate the audience with spectacular stunts, including lighting bassist Nikki Sixx on fire. They continued this trend until their first Hollywood Takeover show when a garbage truck hit them in the street outside the Troubadour in front of a crowd of several hundred fans.
"It was all about the music and the greatest show ever," Sixx told Classic Rock In. "From the beginning we've always been about the fashion, the tunes, the lyrics and the energy on stage. There's a very early video of us playing at the Starwood Club in 1981 and we're giving 150%, and it was on." In the midst of the new wave, everyone nodded and applauded a little.
Motley Crue recently released a three-song EP called Cancelled and will perform their final show scheduled for this year's Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, on Sunday. They will return for their third Las Vegas residency at the end of March, which will include 11 shows at MGM's Dolby Live Park.
"Motley Crue and Las Vegas have always been the perfect combination of luxury and decadence," the band said in a joint statement. "We've always loved the idea of a residency in Vegas, as we've always loved the idea of being in one place to create a unique show with a lot of songs for the fans and what fans have been asking for for years."
