Dallas police are searching for 17-year-old Trayvon Darnell Wright in the death of Lancaster High School student Ikea Hood, who was fatally shot on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Fox News, citing the Dallas Police Department, reported that officers responded to the shooting in the 700 block of Grambling Drive around 10:40 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, they found that Hood had been shot by a suspect named Trayvon Darnell Wright, who fled the scene.

Police searching for the suspect said an arrest warrant has been issued for Trayvon Darnell Wright on murder charges.

The search continues for Trayvon Darnell Wright, accused of the murder of 17-year-old high school student, Ikea Imari Hood. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting, True Crime USA reports, saying the suspect shot the teen three weeks after giving birth to a baby girl named Ice Lynn. In a press release, the Dallas Police Department said:

“The suspect left the location. DFR responded and the victim died at the scene. This remains an ongoing investigation which will be filed under case number 003614-2024.
Hood, who went to Lancaster High School, was reportedly a member of the Tigercat drill team. According to True Crime USA, the teen was also a member of the Next Level Community dance group. Nairi Preston, who runs Next Level, described Hood as having a living spirit dedicated to the craft:

"Ikea really was like a dancing daughter to me. Ikea started my program in 2019. She was vivacious, just had a bright smile. She was always laughing, but most of all she was a hard worker. She was always Tried to learn something new." Dance deals, what was needed.
The Lancaster School District also released a statement condoling the teen's death, adding that counselors would be made available to students and staff members affected by the incident. Lancaster ISD, who said they were saddened by Hood's passing, said:
