Times of discover News: Vampires are invading Hollywood this fall. But there's no need to prepare for wooden stakes or buy extra garlic from the supermarket, because these creatures of the night aren't just interested in sucking your blood, they're ready to show off their acrobatic skills, show off some serious dance moves and even tease people.

All the bloodsuckers are coming to town as part of the Traveling Vampire Circus, which will make its deadly home at the Montalban Theatre on select dates from Sept. 19 through Oct. 6.

"It's a lot of fun because the crowd is really coming to the show, and we interact with them, and we scare them but we still have a lot of comedy involved," said Francisco Santos, producer of the scary show.

The 90-minute theatrical show includes pranksters, juggling acts, acrobats, dancers, gymnasts and clowns. And while it's all about vampires, the show is also about family fun, Santos said.

"We had young kids come to our show and have a lot of fun. We didn't have any bloody pictures. It was a circus performance," he said. Santos, a former Cirque du Soleil performer, started the show because of his love of horror and the circus.

"This circus was a dream come true. I always wanted to have my own show, but I wanted to do something different. I'm a fan of horror stories, Stephen King and horror movies, so I always wanted to mix circus and horror," Santos said.

So it's no surprise that Santos incorporated into his program a story based on a circus traveling through the Transylvanian forests that attracts a cast of Count Dracula and his vampire minions. As night falls, the circus performers find themselves attacked and their souls imprisoned forever.

However, the circus is only allowed to do this again once every 500 years. They sang in front of an 18-foot-tall castle built overlooking a cemetery where circus performers are buried.

But death did not take away their talent for performance because there were acrobats who flew in the air, performers who bent themselves into different formations, skaters who performed dangerous tricks and funny clowns who became masters of ceremonies.
