Times of discover News: "Million Dollar Baby" was up for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap at the 2025 show. If nominated for rap awards, Richman's jams would compete with hits like Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," Future, Metro Boomin and Lamar's "Like That," Megan Thee Stallion's "Hiss," 21 Savage's "Redrum," Gloriella's "Ya Glo!" and Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign's "Carnival."

"Million Dollar Baby" topped the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart for 22 weeks and was dethroned last week by The Weeknd and Playboi Carti's "Timeless." Richman's song topped Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for three weeks and peaked at number two on the all-genre Hot 100 chart.

Richman's rep did not respond to an email seeking comment. The first round of voting for the 2025 Grammys ended on Tuesday. Nominations will be announced on November 8 and final voting will take place from December 12 to January 3. The live show will air from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2.

The news comes two weeks after Richman, 24, posted a now-deleted tweet in which he said he was "not a hip hop artist." His comments went viral and radio personality DJ Head responded, "So all hip-hop stations playing MDB ("Million Dollar Baby") or Dial ("Devil Is A Lie") will be shutting down today. Thanks for the heads up".

"I'm glad I got the PSA before I do the radio mix. I currently have 2 slots open. "What should I play?" DJ Head said on social media, "Nothing is greater than the culture." Richman later explained his point, writing, "I'll say it again, I'm grateful for everything. I said I don't want it in my box.

I grew up with hip hop. But I'm a singer." In another post on social media, he wrote, "I mean I'm not just a hip hop artist." "Million Dollar Baby" is also nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. While Richman is up for Best New Artist nominations, the competition also included a nomination for Best R&B Song as Brent Faiyaz's 82-second track "Best Time", which Richman wrote, is in this category.

Richman signed with Faiyaz Supremacy ISO. Richman's other songs - "Devil Is a Lie" and "Thought You Were the One" - reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart. His debut album, Coyote, was released last month but didn't have time to be nominated for a Grammy. It will be part of the 2026 show.
