Shakira celebrates single life with song 'Soltera'
Times of discover News: Global superstar Shakira released her long-awaited twelfth album La Mujeres y No Lloran earlier this year, which is her first album in seven years and today is a welcome sign of her legacy. Later this fall, Shakira will embark on her La Mujeres y No Llorana World Tour which will feature her albums and hits spanning three decades. But, before she hits the road, the Colombian hitmaker may have another project in the works.
Shakira's latest single "Single" is now released, and though it wasn't included on the album, the standalone track may be included in a future release.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the making of the album in June, she hinted that she has more music that could be revealed soon. "We have some songs," she said. "They're hiding. I don't have a new album, but let's say there's a new project."
In "Single," Shakira sings in Spanish about how she has the right to be mistreated and to be happy, to celebrate freedom and do whatever she wants, and to enjoy living life on her own.
I'm an artist. I'm a woman. And I'm a wounded wolf. And nobody can tell me how to lick my wounds," she told Rolling Stone about publicly processing her breakup through music.
We're in a society that's used to seeing women deal with pain in a submissive way, and I think that's changing." The Women's No Longer Lorraine World Tour kicks off in Palm Desert, California, on Nov. 2 and ends in Detroit on Dec. 15.
The song is in some ways a spiritual successor to last year's "BezRip Music Sessions, Vol. 53," in which she harshly criticized ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué, which became a hit and her first Billboard Hot 100 single in nearly two decades. The single cracked the top 10 for the first time. Much like the joy of "Single", this track is a great moment of catharsis for the Grammy Award winner.
