Mr. Vitale will go to "Hollywood"
Times of discover News: The trope is a familiar one. Movies have been made about it. Songs have been written about it. “He” is making it in the film industry. This longtime Walterboro resident has made it a reality and is living his dream.
Vitale would debut in the industry as an actor in 2019. He did a few acting roles and did some additional background work. He worked in a film called The Righteous Gemstones with John Goodman. He decided he didn’t care about acting, but he really liked what was going on behind the camera.
Dustin started out directing short films and then moved into producing. His current finished product is “The Forest Hills” (not the local subdivision) starring Shelley Duvall. Ms. Duvall’s appearance in the film is an added bonus for Vitale because she is a huge fan of Duvall. She cites Annie Hall and Olive Oyl as her favorite movies. Perhaps her most famous role was Wendy Torrance, the troubled wife of Johnny Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson, in The Shining; the film adaptation of the novel written by Stephen King.
Dustin Vitale was born in 1998 at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. He attended elementary school at Forest Hills Elementary, attended Walterboro Middle School Campus A and B, and attended Walterboro High School in his freshman and sophomore years.
He moved back to North Dakota in his senior year and finished high school there, but moved back to Colleton County and now lives between Walterboro and Charleston. She originally wanted to move to Los Angeles, but her Atlanta-based friends told her there was no point in moving to LA anymore since all the movies were in the Atlanta area, which was absolutely true.
IMDb.com gives a brief summary of the film as, "Haunted by nightmares, Rico, [played by Chico Mendez], descends into madness in the Catskill Mountains." In addition to Shelley Duvall, the film also stars horror film alumni Dee Wallace and Edward Furlong of Terminator fame.
The film will hit the Ivanhoe Theater on October 4th. Vitale will be at the opening reception and will lead a question-and-answer session before or after the screening. Let's show support for the local guy who "made it" at the Ivanhoe Family Cinema on October 4th. So we can all say he knew when.
Forest Hills was Ms. Duvall's last film before her death in July of this year. The current film is not a remake but a reincarnation. This version will move from drama to horror. Vitale saw the original version and contacted the director. Apparently the director was looking for a producer and Dustin was brought onto the project.
