Haryana Kranti, New Delhi: Batman has been an iconic character in comics, TV and movies for over 85 years. On Thursday, September 26, he will make history as the first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His star will be in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard. Guinness World Records official adjudicator, Michael Empric, will be on hand to certify Batman's history-making accomplishment. "The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor our first Hollywood Walk of Fame superhero! The one and only, Batman!" said Ana Martinez, founder of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "Fans around the world will be delighted to know that Batman's star will be dedicated alongside the stars of Batman television, Adam West and Batman co-creator Bob Kane." DC Comics president, publisher and chief creative officer Jim Lee and senior vice president and general manager Anne DePies, as well as Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Steve Nissen hosted the event.

Created for DC Comics by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The Batman TV series, starring West and Burt Ward as Robin, first aired on ABC in January 1966. Neal Hefti's memorable theme song for the series won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Theme and sparked a Billboard Hot 100 cover war. Hefti's original version peaked at No. 35, but a cover version by instrumental Southern-rock band The Markets came in at No. 17.

With the help of director Tim Burton and actor Michael Keaton, Batman ushered in the comic book movie era in 1989. Danny Elfman produced and composed the music for the album, which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. Elfman's "The Batman Theme" won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition.

Prince composed and performed an album of songs "inspired by and performed" in the 1989 film, which was even more successful than the album score. It ushered in an era of pop soundtracks that were different (and often more successful) than album scores. Prince's album topped the Billboard 200 for six consecutive weeks and spawned a No. 1 single on the Hot 100, "Batdance".

In 1995, the Batman Forever soundtrack reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and spawned a No. 1 smash, Seal's "Kiss from a Rose", which won Grammys for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Seal wrote no songs for the film, so it is ineligible for an Oscar. The soundtrack also includes U2's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", which reached No. 16 on the Hot 100, as well as genre hits by Method Man and the Offspring.

Hans Zimmer composed the music for The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and both reached the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart. Zimmer also composed and conducted the score for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which peaked at number 25. The Batman film franchise has grossed over $6.8 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the 10th-highest-grossing film franchise of all time.

The Batman & Robin soundtrack also peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 in 1997 and featured artists such as the Smashing Pumpkins, Jewel, R. Kelly, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Eric Benet—or it included hits from artists as diverse as that.
